Barceloneta recorded a convincing win in the derby, although Barcelona kept up with the reigning champion for a while. The hosts dictated the pace throughout the game, but Barcelona equalized several times (2:2, 3:3, 4:4). Early in the fourth quarter, Barceloneta built a 4-goal lead for the first time (8:4). Barcelona reduced the gap (7:8). After that, Barceloneta netted three straight goals, regained a 4-goal advantage (11:7 in the 22nd minute), and didn’t let the rival come back. Alvaro Granados and Alberto Munarriz led the winning team with four goals each. Felipe Perrone added three. Blai Mallarach, who moved from Barceloneta to Barcelona last summer, netted three for the visitors.
Sabadell started slowly in the match against Real. But, the finalists of the LEN Euro Cup final found their rhythm in the second half. Playing excellently in defense, they recorded an 8:3 victory.
An excellent defense led Mataro to a 10:3 victory over Catalunya.
Rubi upset Tenerife with a convincing victory in a 30-goal match. The hosts dominated from the beginning. They opened the match with five straight goals. Already in the second quarter, they had a 7-goal lead (10:3). During the fourth period, Rubi increased the margin to ten (17:7 and 19:9). Uros Vasic and James Logan Schofield were unstoppable. Vasic scored seven, and Schofield five goals.
Terrassa edged out Sant Andreu in the most exciting match of the day. Terrassa had a 3-goal advantage (5:2) in the 14th minute, but Sant Andreu erased the deficit and leveled at 6:6 and 7:7. Jordi Chicho Aunos converted a man-up with 42 seconds left on the clock for the final score. Terrassa won 8:7.
