Today, Pro Recco announced that Ratko Rudic is the new head coach of their team!
Born on the 7th of June in 1948, the Croatian is recognized as one of the best coaches of all time. The International Swimming Hall of Fame referred to him as “one of the best, if not the best, water polo coaches that ever stood on the edge of the pool.”
With Olympic gold medals won coaching three different national teams (Yugoslavia 1984 and 1988, Italy 1992, Croatia 2012), success follows wherever Rudic goes. During his playing days, he played for Jadran and Partizan. Later, he coached multiple national teams: Yugoslavia, Italy, United States, Croatia, and Brazil. His latest experience dates back to 2016 and the Rio Olympics.
This is his first time coaching a club, though. And since he’s a man with a vision, he already set the goal: Bringing Pro Recco back to the top of Europe.
Rudic comments on his new challenge:
“I am very honored to be called upon by Pro Recco — the most decorated club in the world. They already have a great tradition, and I am here to brighten the future for them.
The offer was not difficult to accept. Pro Recco’s projects interested me, giving me a boost of energy. On one hand, we will create good results, which are fundamental. On the other one, we must think about the promotion of water polo. We need to implement the marketing and organizational segments president Felugo is already working on.
Ultimately, I want to bring this club to the level it deserves. Because when I take a team I always lead it to the top.”
