The visiting teams collected the points in most of the matches played in Serie A1 today.
There were several exciting games, but the highlight was a derby between Telimar and Trieste. After several twists and turns, Trieste recorded a narrow 11:10 victory.
Other favorites – Brescia, Savona, Ortigia recorded victories. Pro Recco didn’t play today. An encounter between Posillipo and the European champion has been postponed for January.

Telimar had a 2-goal advantage (3:1) after the first quarter of the derby in Palermo. But, Trieste scored four in a row in the first 04:17 minutes of the second period and went to 5:3. Telimar narrowed the gap before the middle break (6:7). The visitors regained a 2-goal advantage early in the second half (8:6). Still, Telimar responded with a 3:0 run, to enter the final quarter leading 9:8.
The fourth period started with three goals in the first two minutes. Buljubasic and Valentino gave Trieste a 10:9 lead, but Vitale leveled at 10:10 shortly after. In the last six minutes of the defensive battle, only one goal was scored. Petronio, the man of the match, converted a man up with 3:10 minutes to go, and Trieste went ahead again (11:10). It was his 5th goal in the game and, as it turned out, a winner, as nobody found the net in the remaining time.
Brescia displayed an excellent defensive play in beating Iren in Genoa. Two minutes before the end, Brescia led 10:4. Iren Quinto reduced the gap with two late goals (6:10).
Savona recovered from a shocking 5:17 loss to Brescia on Wednesday and collected three points in the match against Anzio. However, it wasn’t an easy win for the favorites. After 10 minutes, Anzio led 3:1. But, Savona responded with 3:0 series and turned around a 2-goal deficit to a 4:3 lead before the middle break. Anzio leveled twice in the third quarter (4:4 and 5:5). Still, just seven seconds before the last break, Savona’s Rocchi scored his third goal for 6:5. The visitors stretched the margin to three midway through the final quarter (8:5). Susak made it 6:8 in the 29th minute for the final score.
Ortigia had ups and downs against Roma, but it didn’t let a surprise happen. The Sicilians rushed to a 4:0 lead, but Roma started coming back. The visitors leveled at 6:6 late into the second quarter. Rossi converted a penalty shot in the 15th minute to give Ortigia a 7:6 lead. The visitors equalized at 7:7 (18th minute). After that, Ortigia finally took control, scoring five goals in a row for a comfortable 12:7 advantage in the middle of the last quarter.
De Akker beat Catania 10:6. The Bologna-based team dictated the pace from the beginning. At halftime, it stood 5:3. By the middle of the third quarter, De Akker doubled the gap to 7:3 and maintained a four-goal difference until the end.
Salerno bettered Bogliasco – 8:5. Bogliasco, the home team, earned a slim 2:1 advantage in the first period. But, Salerno flew in the middle two quarters. The visitors scored six and conceded only two goals. Before the final quarter, they were three steps ahead of Bogliasco (7:4), which couldn’t come back.
