LEN has confirmed the final version of the calendar and the venues of the European water polo championships and other major events in 2023.
As we have already written, the European Championships in Tel Aviv is scheduled for October (7 – 21), while the road to Israel will begin in March with the first qualification round. (the teams that were ranked 1st – 7th at the European Championships in Split are directly qualified, along with host Israel).
As for the age-group tournaments, the European U15 and U17 Championships will be staged In the next year.
LEN has made the decisions on the hosts of the tournaments.
The European U15 Championships for girls will take place in Zagreb (Croatia) between June 24 and July 2. The men’s Europeans for the same age will be held in Podgorica (July 8 – 16), in the Moraca pool, where the European U19 Championships was played this year.
Manisa, the city located in the west of the Asian part of Turkey, will host the LEN event for the first time. Moreover, the Turks will organize two European U17 water polo Championships next summer. The girls will battle for the medals from July 30 to August 5. The boys’ championships start on August 8 and end on August 15.
The start of the 2023/24 season for clubs is planned for September, with the Champions League Qualification Round 1. The Preliminary Round will start in November.
