There were strong shows of dominance from the top two teams in the women’s LEWaterpolo league in Spain today
Matchday 12 will be remembered as the day Sabadell destroyed Boadilla, keeping them at a blank (24-0). Barceloneta fared slightly better against Mataro, but it will be no consolation, as they were dominated by Dani Ballart’s galacticos, 22-5.
Two other top-four teams also won convincingly.
Medi defeated Rubi 13-9, and Sant Andreu beat the water polo school from Zaragoza 16-7 to extend its winning streak to five games.
The final result saw Gabor Egedi’s Catalunya side earn an 11-8 victory over Tenerife Echeyde, exacting some measure of revenge for the teams’ earlier Autumn meeting, in which Echeyde were victorious.
Even though Terrassa and Sant Feliu didn’t travel for this game, they’ll make up the missed fixture later in the week.

For the second week running, Mataro surpassed the twenty-goal mark to take a 22-5 win against Barceloneta.
From the very beginning, the day belonged to Mataro, and more specifically to the Dutch sharpshooter Simone Van de Kraats. It takes a lot to eclipse Rita Keszthelyi-Nagy, especially when she, once again, found six goals today. But Mataro’s lefty finished the game with a perfect nine goals, including three goals in each of the first and second periods.
Mataro’s upcoming three weeks are among the most crucial of the season. At home against Boadilla shouldn’t be too difficult, but after that they have to play league leaders Sabadell before their massive Champions League duel against Olympiacos.
With three wins and three losses in their last six games, Barceloneta’s recent form is indicative of their continued existence in the middle of the table.

Sabadell, in a stunning performance, held Boadilla scoreless today while crushing them 24-0.
Brutal, devastating and ruthless are some of the words you might use to describe Sabadell’s performance in Madrid. Boadilla are not a bad side, but they were absolutely outclassed by a team at the top of its power today.
David Palma’s team chipped in with goals from all quarters: Paula Leiton hit five and Irene Casado bagged four. There were hat-tricks for Martina Bonet, Judith Forca and Bea Ortiz.
Sabadell are the best team in the league, and by some way. There doesn’t appear to be anyone who can challenge the side from Can Llong for their 18th straight national championship.

A storming third quarter from Mediterrani was decisive in their 13-9 victory over Rubi this afternoon.
Marian Diaz’s side – one of three Spanish teams in the Champions League quarter finals – tore Rubi to shreds in the third quarter, routing the visitors 6-0 (Bakoc 2, Lizotte 2, Crespi and Moreno).
Before that point, neither team had a clear advantage; in fact, they were separated by only one goal (6-5) going into halftime. Rubi actually found a lot of momentum in the last period, but there is no coming back from a six-nil quarter against a side of Mediterrani’s calibre.
The upcoming weekend won’t be any easier for Rubi as they will have to travel to face the league leaders, Astralpool Sabadell. Mediterrani appear to have settled down, after a bit of a topsy-turvy start to the season; they current find themselves fourth in the division.

It was a happy visit to Aragon for Javi Fernandez and his Sant Andreu side as they came away with three points through a 16-7 win over Zaragoza.
Gisel La Farre Colominas (4), Maria Palacio (3) and Ariadne Ruiz (3) had big impacts in terms of goals, while Spain’s starting keeper, Martina Terre, had a particularly strong game in goal.
Andreu led 3-1 after eight minutes, before they really pushed the pedal to the metal. The second quarter got off to a good start for the North American contingent, with goals from Hannah Shabb of the United States and Elyse Lemay-Lavoie of Canada making the score 6-1 for Andreu.
Further scores from Palacio, Martinez, Perez and Colominas gave the visitors an unassailable lead at half-time (10-3).
La Farre Colominas added a further three scores in the third to put the result beyond doubt.
Sant Andreu have now won five games in a row, and sit happily in third. Zaragoza, however, remains winless in their opening eleven games. While they didn’t play poorly, today’s match was always going to be difficult. A victory is urgently required to avoid the drop.

Catalunya gained revenge for an earlier season loss to Tenerife Echeyde by defeating the Islanders 11-8.
The points were incredibly valuable to Gabor Egedi’s team in what was an extremely hard-fought contest between two mid-table sides. The win snaps a skid of four straight defeats for the Catalans.
Even though Echeyde came back to tie the game at 7 goals apiece, Catalunya’s goalkeeper, Mariona Terre, scored right before halftime to restore the hosts’ two-goal lead (7-5).
The game was decided early in the third and fourth quarters by goals from Catalunya’s Dutch duo, Roline Schuijt and Maartje Van Rijn.
Echeyde have dropped five of their last six matches in the LE Waterpolo, while Catalunya stay in fifth, ahead of Euro Cup quarter-finalists, CN Terrassa.
