Today, the 11th edition of the women’s βCoppa Italiaβ Final-Six got underway in Roma.
Rapallo and Ekipe defeated Trieste and Florentia in the quarterfinal of the Italian Cup, advancing to the semifinals where Roma and Plebiscito await them.
Rapallo played confidently against Trieste (6:9) while Ekipe took win with 10 goals difference against Florentia (15:5).

At noon, (12:00pm)Β Pallanuoto Trieste and RN Florentia will compete for the 5th place spot. Then, in the evening, the day’s most exciting action takes place as SIS Roma takes on Ekipe Orizzonte in the first semifinal at 5:30pm. The second semifinal between Plebiscito Padova and Rapallo follows at 7:30pm.

It seems that Rapallo’s strong defensive play was the key to their victory, as they were able to limit Trieste to only two goals in the crucial middle quarters.
Rapallo was able to come back from an early deficit 2-1 and take the lead by the end of the first half 3-4. With a three-goal lead in the middle of the third period 3-6, they were able to maintain their advantage until the end of the match 6-9.
It’s worth mentioning that Gitto was the standout performer for Rapallo with three goals, while Cergol was the best player for Trieste with three goals as well.
Overall, it was a well-played match by Rapallo, and their solid defence and ability to capitalise on their opportunities on offence allowed them to come away with the win.

Champions League semi-finalists Ekipe is justified the role of as one of the favourites and took a huge win against powerless Florentia 15-5.
Already after first quarter Ekipe have big lead of 5-0. In second quarter Florentia scored first goal on the match but on the end of halftime result was 8-1. In the second half, the difference kept growing (11:8). The last eight minutes saw both teams score four goals, but the victory was an easy one in the end for the reigning Italian Champions (15-1).
The best scorer on this match been Bettini (Ekipe) with 4 goals. For Florentia,Β the best scorer was Gattini with 2 strikes.
