Considering the standings, the duel between the 7th-placed BVSC and the 3rd-placed Vasas was the derby. But anything but Vasas’ win would be a surprise. Vasas built a 5-goal lead already in the first half (7:2 and 8:3). The team coached by Slobodan Nikic stretched the margin to six in the second half (10:4, 12:6, 13:7, 14:8). At the finish, BVSC reset the difference to five.
Ferencvaros demonstrated the power in the game against Miskolc 18:5. OSC and Honved recorded 13-goal wins too. Honved downed Kaposvar 17:4, while OSC beat Szented 20:7. Honved’s goalkeeper Attila Decker was outstanding with 85 percent of saves.
Szolnok was too strong for UVSE – 18:8. It’s worth mentioning that one of Szolnok’s 18 goals was scored by 15-year-old Maxim Cseh. His father, Sandor, was Szolnok’s head coach and now coordinates all junior and youth national teams in the Hungarian Water Polo Federation.
Last-placed KSI had no chance against Eger, and Szeged ran over PVSK.
