USVE has clinched the Euro Cup title for the 2022/23 season after defeating FTC Telekom with a summary result of 18-21 in the second leg of the final held in Budapest.
Although Ferencvaros had an advantage of one goal away in the first leg (8-9), they were unable to maintain their lead in the second game as Ujpest made a comeback.
In the last period of the match, USVE made a series of 5-0, which was enough for them to secure the title. Kamilla Farago was the match’s top scorer, scoring four goals for Ujpest.
This is the second time that USVE has won the competition, with their previous win coming in 2017. This victory also marks the fourth time that a Hungarian team has won the Euro Cup, with Honved winning in 2006 and Dunaujvaros winning in 2018.

In the first quarter, Leimeter scored a goal for Ferencvaros, but UVSE managed to equalize with a goal of their own. Ferencvaros took the lead again with a goal from Fardi, but Mascai scored from a penalty to make it 2-2. Ferencvaros managed to score another goal in the last minute of the first period to make it 3-2 in their favor.
In the second quarter, UVSE dominated and scored three consecutive goals to take a 5-3 lead. Ferencvaros managed to tie the game with two goals from Kuna, but UVSE quickly took the lead again with a goal from Farago. Gurisatti scored for UVSE to make it 6-6, and UVSE managed to score another goal before the end of the first half to take a 7-6 lead.
In the third quarter, UVSE managed to take a two-goal lead with a third goal from Farago. However, Ferencvaros managed to tie the game again with goals from Petik and Kuna.
In the last quarter, Pocze scored for Ferencvaros to take a 9-8 lead, but UVSE managed to score four consecutive goals in just two minutes to take a commanding 9-12 lead. Ferencvaros called a time-out, but they were unable to score, and Ujpest confirmed their win with one more goal to make it 9-13.
