Sabadell will have a new captain in the next season. The current one wonβt extend the contract with the club.
Sergi Cabanas, who won gold at the World Championships and bronze medals at the European Championships and in the World League playing for Spain last year, confirmed that he wouldnβt play for Sabadell in the next season.
In an interview with Radio Sabadell, the 27-year-old defender said he would leave the club he has played for since 2014 and continue his career abroad.
Cabanas didnβt say where he would move, but his next destination will be Jug Dubrovnik, and everything will be officialized after the end of the Final Eight of Belgrade. Along with Cabanas, Montenegroβs center-forward Dusan BanicevicΒ will leave Sabadell and join Jug, the same source said.
Banicevic (25), who arrived at Sabadell two years ago, will replace Greek center-forward Konstantinos Kakaris on Jug’s roster. The Greek will continue his career at Pro Recco, but an official confirmation of that transfer is still missing.
Sabadellβs first reinforcement for the next season is Fynn Schutze, the player of the German national team, who will come from Waspo 98 Hannover.
