UVSE captain Gabriella Szucs will bid farewell to the sport at the end of the season.
Szucs has undoubtedly established herself as one of Hungary's most decorated players over the past two decades. Starting her career with Dunaujvaros, she embarked on a successful stint in Spain, where she enjoyed two exceptional periods with Sabadell. During her time with Sabadell, she achieved tremendous success, clinching the Division de Honor title on four occasions, the Euro League trophy three times, as well as three Spanish Cups and three Super Cups.
Named the Hungarian Player of the Year in 2009, Szucs made her return to Hungary and joined UVSE, where she continued to shine. Throughout her tenure with UVSE, she has led the team to an impressive seven consecutive national championships. In her final season, she displayed her exceptional leadership skills, guiding a young UVSE side to victory in the Euro Cup.
The crowning achievements of Szucs' international career came in the form of a gold medal at the 2016 European Championships and a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
