World champion Spain enters the final stage of the preparations for the World Cup Final in Los Angeles (June 30 – July 2). Spain arrives at the World Cup Final as the Division 1 Group B winner. It will face Germany in the quarterfinals in Los Angeles.
In the following four days (June 21 – 24), the Spaniards will have joint preparations with Hungary in Budapest at the Alfred Hajos pool, where they won the gold medal at the 2022 World Championships.
Head coach David Martin announced the list of 17 players who will participate in the preparations with the Hungarians.
All players who won the gold medal in Budapest last year are on the roster. Alvaro Granados and Marc Larumbe, who missed the World Cup Division 1 tournament in March because head coach Martin gave them a rest, are back on the team.
Besides the 13 world champions, Oscar Asensio, Unai Biel, Alberto Barroso and Francisco Valera are among the 17 picked players. Valera is the only of these four who didn’t play in the World Cup Division 1. Valera and Barroso won the bronze medal at the 2022 European Championships.

Between the World Cup Final and the World Championships in Fukuoka (July 14 – 30), Spain will have joint preparations with Japan, the host of the 2023 Worlds.
