While both Serbian national teams face their first challenges this summer (the qualifications for the European championships), the conflicts between the clubs and the Water Polo Federation of Serbia have become more intense.
After Viktor Jelenic’s interview and Slobodan Soro’s announcement, Water Polo Club Radnicki reacted.
In an announcement titled “The answer to the lies about Radnicki” and signed by the club’s director Jugoslav Vasovic, Radnicki said:
“We never dreamed that there would be a war of announcements in our gentlemen’s and trophy water polo; that’s why we immediately point out that this is the first time that Radnicki addresses the public of Serbia.
There has already been nonsense about our club, but we “jumped over” to “roll in other people’s mud.” Now we will not remain silent because we don’t want a lie told a thousand times to become the truth, and the facts, in this case, are easily verifiable.
We have read Slobodan Soro’s shameful announcement several times, and we cannot justify the stupidity and lies he uttered and let him explain them to the water polo public and lovers of our sport, before whom we are all responsible.
Our face is clean and will remain so. That is why we repeat that every sentence in which Soro mentioned Radnicki is untruth. We will continue battling for water polo, children in the pool, and good results for our club and Serbia!”
Meanwhile, Viktor Jelenic, the Water Polo Federation of Serbia President, reacted to Soro’s statement with his announcement and question:
“I’m glad that the former Brazilian national team player, spokesman for Novi Beograd, the man who sued the Water Polo Federation of Serbia for debts to him, says that water polo is greater than all of us. That’s how it should be. That is why I would like to ask the gentleman in question just one question.
On August 10, 2016, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, when you were a goalkeeper of the Brazilian national team in the match against the Serbian national team, which Serbia lost 6:5 with your great help, were you receiving the Serbian national award (the state’s lifetime payment for Serbian athletes who won medals with national teams at major competitions- Ed)?
Please give a short answer to this easy question – yes or no.
I would have more questions, but they are complex, and I will do so at another time since the interests of the national team and the state of Serbia are in the first place.”
