Spainβs head coach David Martin doesnβt change a winning team if there is no need.
Following Spain’s joint training with Hungary in Budapest, Martin selected a team of 15 players who will represent Spain at the upcoming World Cup Final in Los Angeles (June 30 – July 2) and announced it today.
All 13 players who won the gold medal at the 2022 World Championships in Budapest are on the roster. Besides them, Alberto Barroso and Fran Valera are on the team. The two won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Split last year.
Twelve of the 15 chosen players participated in the first official competition this year β in the World Cup Division 1 in Podgorica, where Spain won 1st place. Granados, Larumbe, and Valera are returnees compared to the tournament in Podgorica. Granados and Larumbe didnβt play in the capital of Montenegro because head coach Martin decided they needed a rest.
As the winner of Group B of the World Cup Division 1, Spain will play against Germany in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Los Angeles on Friday. The winner of that match will face the USA or Serbia in the semifinals.
