Team USA's defender Marko Vavic returns to the Italian League after the experience playing in Serbia and Spain.
Vavic (25) signed a contract with Savona, the club confirmed today.
He graduated from the University of Southern California, where he played for the USC Trojans. His first European club was Roma (2020/21). Then, he moved to Serbia and played for Partizan (2021/22). In the previous season, he was a member of Barcelona.
Vavic has been a regular member of Team USA for years and participated in two World Championships (Budapest 2017 and Gwangiu 2019), in the Tokyo Olympics, and won gold at the 2018 Pan American Games.
Savona, which won silver in the 2023 LEN Euro Cup, and finished 6th in the Italian League, has signed three excellent players this summer. Before Vavic, Pietro Figlioli (Pro Recco) and Balazs Erdelyi (Vasas) arrived at Savona.
Federico Panerai and Giacomo Lanzoni left the club.
