Vasas confirmed new signings.
Today, the LEN Euro Cup winner presented three young players - Benedek Batizi, Dome Dala and Soma Lakatos.
Batizi (22) is a universal player who started his career at BVSC and was one of the club’s key players in the past few seasons. He played for junior and youth national teams and currently prepares for the Universiade in China.
Dome Dala arrives from OSC. The 23-year-old defender grew up as a player at UVSE. Between 2020 and 2023, he played for OSC Budapest and gained a lot of experience playing in the Champions League.
Left-handed Soma Lakatos (20) won the gold medal with Hungary at the World Junior Championships in Otopeni a few weeks ago. He arrived at Vasas from Szeged.
Before these three signings, Vasas officially confirmed the arrivals of two experienced players from OSC Budapest – members of the senior national team goalkeeper Marton Levai and Gergely Burian. Levai has been a regular member of the national team since 2022. Until the final days of the preparations, Burian was among the candidates for the national team at the World Championships in Fukuoka. Still, he wasn’t picked by the head coach Zsolt Varga.
Olympic champion Strahinja Rasovic will also arrive at Vasas after two seasons at Novi Beograd.
As for departures, Vasas has announced that six players left the club and thanked Serbia’s goalkeeper Branislav Mitrovic (Tourcoing), Balazs Erdelyi (Savona), Montenegrin Drasko Brguljan (it was rumored that he could return to Primorac), Tamas Sedlmayer (Spandau 04), Olympic bronze medalist from Tokyo Tamas Mezei and Roland Simon.
So - six arrivals and as many departures.
There have been rumors that leftie Ivan Nagaev was close to the exit doors of Vasas and that he could join Jadran Herceg Novi. Since Vasas brought two left-handed players (Burian and Lakatos) that rumor might come true.
