The United States women’s national team has officially announced its 15-player roster for the upcoming World Championships in Fukuoka.
The reigning champions are back to defend their title, with twelve members who were part of the victorious team from last year’s tournament in Budapest, Hungary.
This tournament’s roster comprises three players who have won the last four World Championship titles consecutively (Maggie Steffens, Maddie Musselman, and Rachel Fattal). Three of the team: Jenna Flynn, Emily Ausmus, and Ella Woodhead (who happens to be the sister of USA men’s player Dylan Woodhead) are still teenagers.
Team USA holds an illustrious record as seven-time World Champions, having secured an unprecedented four consecutive titles between the years 2015 and 2022. No team, male of female, has come close to matching that pedigree.
In addition to their outstanding World Championship triumphs, the USA team currently holds the titles of Olympic, World Cup, and World Champions, solidifying their status as the dominant force in the sport. They are placed in Group A alongside Australia, Kazakhstan, and Greece.
The team’s campaign will commence on the 17th of June, where they will face China in their first match as they embark on their journey to defend their title once again.
