One of the most decorated Croatian players officially became a member of Olympiacos.
Today, the “Red Whites” announced that Luka Loncar (36) had joined Olympiacos.
Loncar started his career at Mladost Zagreb and played for Solaris, Medvescak, Brescia, Jug Dubrovnik, and Pro Recco in the past two seasons before coming to Olympiacos.
The experienced center-forward retired from the national team two years ago. Representing Croatia, Loncar won 10 medals at World Aquatics and LEN competitions: an Olympic silver (2016), one gold (2017), one silver, and two bronze medals at the World Championships, bronze at the European championships, three medals in the World League, and one at the World Cup. He won the gold won at the 2013 Mediterranean Games.
Loncar started his career in Mladost, but achieved the most significant successes at the club level playing for Jug between 2015 and 2021. He lifted the Champions League and LEN Super Cup trophies with the Dubrovnik-based club in 2016, three Regional Leagues, and nine domestic trophies (five Croatian leagues and four Cups).
As a member of Pro Recco, Loncar added two Champions League to his treasury. He arrives at Olympiacos as the reigning European champion. He was among the 13 who triumphed with Recco at the 2023 Final Eight in Belgrade.
So far, Olympiacos has confirmed three new signings. Loncar and Dimitrios Nikolaidis are new centre-forwards, who will replace Konstantinos Mourikis and Christodoulos Kolomvos.
