Vasas completed its activities in the transfer market in 2022.
The club’s latest acquisition is Serb Nikola Dedovic (31), the Olympic champion with Serbia at the Tokyo Games. He arrived from Sintez Kazan.
In the following season, Vasas, the LEN Euro Cup winner, will have three reigning Olympic champions on the roster. Before Dedovic, Strahinja Rasovic arrived at Vasas from Novi Beograd, and the two will be welcomed by Sava Randjelovic, who has played for Vasas since 2020. Besides three players, Vasas has an Olympic champion on the bench. The club’s coach is Slobodan Nikic, one of the most decorated water polo players in the world, who won the Olympic gold in Rio in 2016.
Dedovic started his career at Partizan and debuted for the senior team in the season 2010/11 when the Black Whites won the Champions League. He left Partizan in 2014. Then, he played for Radnicki Kragujevac and Primorje Rijeka. In 2016 he joined Spandau Berlin, where he spent six seasons (until 2022). Last year he was a part of Sintez’s team.
Besides the Olympic gold with the senior team, he clinched medals with the junior and youth national teams of Serbia.
Dedovic plays on the right side, and he will be a replacement for Russian leftie Ivan Nagaev. The club confirmed that Nagaev wouldn’t continue his career at Vasas. There have been rumors the Russians would sign for Jadran Herceg Novi.
Vasas brought seven new players: goalkeeper Marton Levai, Gergely Burian, Dome Dala (all three came from OSC Budapest), Benedek Batizi (BVSC), Soma Lakatos (Szeged) and two Serbs Strahinja Rasovic and Nikola Dedovic.
As many players left the club: Serbia’s goalkeeper Branislav Mitrovic (Tourcoing), Balazs Erdelyi (Savona), Montenegrin Drasko Brguljan, Tamas Sedlmayer (Spandau 04), Tamas Mezei, Roland Simon and Ivan Nagaev.
