This summer’s last reinforcement to the team of Novi Beograd arrives from China. No, he isn’t Chinese, but he is currently in China.
Francesco De Michelis, the goalkeeper of the Italian national team that competes in the Universiade in Chengdu, moves to Novi Beograd.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper comes to the Serbian champion from Roma (Distretti Ecologici Nuoto Roma), which finished 9th in Serie A1 last season. De Michelis was a goalkeeper of the junior national team and won bronze with Italy at the World U20 Championships four years ago. He played for the senior team in the World League.
Novi Beograd switched both goalkeepers. Earlier this year, the club agreed with Lazar Dobozanov (Radnicki). He and De Michelis will replace Joao Pedro Fernandes Coimbra (left to Partizan) and Radoslav Filipovic (Oradea).
Besides two goalkeepers, three players left the club: Dusan Mandic (Ferencvaros), Strahinja Rasovic (Vasas), and Viktor Rasovic (Noisy-le-Sec).
Serbia’s captain Nikola Jaksic is free to go if someone pays Novi Beograd a high compensation fee (150.000 euros). Jaksic has a valid contract with Novi Beograd, but, as things stand now, the club management doesn’t count on him in the next season. If nobody pays the compensation fee, Jaksic, who displayed very good performances at the World Championships, will probably receive salaries but won’t play.
Novi Beograd finished its activities in the transfer market with De Michelis’ arrival. The newcomers are two goalkeepers, Filip Filipovic (Olympiacos), returnee Milos Cuk, Marko Radulovic and Nikola Lukic (all three Radnicki).
