The U20 World Championships in Coimbra are in full swing, with no real surprises on any of the scorelines.
In the upper tier of the competition, Greece and Spain – who face each other tomorrow to determine the group winner – both remain undefeated after two games; Reigning Champions Spain handed the Netherlands their second narrow defeat of the tournament (12-10), while Greece dismantled Brazil, 19-5.
Meanwhile, the United States have taken Group B by the scruff of the neck, following yesterday’s comfortable victory over Israel with a 12-9 win over the Junior Setterosa. Hungary got off the mark with a ten-score victory over Israel (18-8).
New Zealand opened their tournament with a confident win against the hosts Portugal (15-8) in Group C; Canada started their championships with a crushing 26-3 defeat of Chile in Group D; and Kazakhstan bounced back from their heavy defeat against Australia yesterday with a big win against India today (28-4).
There was no action in Group E, which features only two teams (Japan and Croatia), who will rematch tomorrow morning.
