The Group Phase of the LEN Euro Cup kicked off with the matches in Group C.
The hosts managed to secure victories in a similar fashion, staging big comebacks in the second half.
Sabac came back from four goals down to defeat Primorje Rijeka 10:8, while BVSC beat Waspo 98 Hannover 10:9.

Primorje stunned Sabac in the first four minutes and earned a 2:0 lead. The hosts, supported from the packed stands, leveled at 2:2. But, a new strike from Primorje was yet to come. The Croats scored four straight goals and went to 6:2 (11th minute). At the finish of the first half, Sabac halved the deficit (4:6). There were no goals in the second half for a long. Primorje broke the deadlock with two back-to-back goals in the 22nd and 23rd minutes and rebuilt a 4-goal lead (8:4). Still, the hosts’ center, Toholj, closed the third quarter – 5:8 and opened his team’s 6:0 series.
In the fourth period, Sabac dominated. After less than three minutes of play, the home players caught up with the rival (8:8). Then, they killed two Primorje-s man-ups. A minute and 36 seconds before the end, Ognjen Stojanovic scored his 4th goal and put the hosts in front – 9:8. Korac set the final score.
BVSC wasn’t four goals down, but it trailed for most of the match against Waspo 98 Hannover, but it produced a similar comeback to one that Sabac staged. The Germans imposed their rhythm and took a 2-goal lead twice in the first half (3:1 and 4:2). In the 18th minute, the Hungarians leveled the score for the first time (4:4). Hannover went ahead twice in the third period (5:4 and 6:5). After the Germans’ sixth goal, BVSC made a 4:0 series for a 9:6 lead. Three minutes before the end, three goals still separated the rivals (10:7). The Germans reduced the gap, but there was no time for an equalizer. Benic scored the ninth goal for Hannover with just three seconds to go.
The matches in the remaining three groups are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday
