Although five Greeks clubs played in the Euro cups last weekend, the regular season in the Greek Championship continued with five matches of Round 2.
Newcomer to the A1 League, Nireas Chalandriou, made a surprise beating AEK.
Olympiacos and Peristeri earned easy wins, while the games Chania – Palaio Faliro and Panathinaikos – Ethnikos were open until the end.

Nireas Chlandriou played excellently in defense in the first half of the match against AEK and entered the final period with a 5:1 advantage. AEK started coming back and cut the deficit to 4:5. Still, the visitors doubled an advantage to 6:4, and AEK’s fifth goal came too late.
Olympiacos cruised to a win over Chios. Ioannis Fountoulis was the best scorer with five goals. Hungarian ace Marton Vamos debuted for Olympiacos, scoring two goals. Besides him, Olympiacos’ foreigner in this match was goalkeeper Marko Bijac.
Panathinaikos opened the match with Ethnikos with a 2:0 lead which proved crucial. Ethnikos chased the rival throughout the match, but “PAO “regained a 2-goal lead in the fourth period.

Palaio Faliro recorded the second win in the season, defeating Chania, which led 4:3 at the first break. Palaio Faliro leveled at 5:5 by the middle break. After a big battle in the second half, Palaio Faliro took points with a 10:9 victory.
Peristeri beat Ilysiakos, primarily thanks to an excellent defense commanded by goalkeeper Drew Holland.
