LEN has announced the players of the clubs participating in Euro Cup. Interestingly, this year, OSC’s list includes Joseph Kayes.
It should be noted that the center player of New Zealand was playing in OSC when he moved to Australia in order to get a contract as a local player. The reasons were his wish to play for them and to fulfill FINA’s requirement (playing in a national team at least a year so he can represent it later).
Even though Kayes was announced in Pro Recco, this year, it looks like OSC got Kayes. It is noteworthy that the New Zealand center was the OSC player when he moved to Australia in spite of his current contract to be listed as a local player in the Australian national team.
OSC believes that Kayes has a contract with the club and by doing this, he brings the club in a serious situation (Kayes got to OSC in the season 2015/2016 when he replaced Nemet Toni because of frequent injuries).
Péter Becsey, Sports Director at OSC, commented for vlv.hu:
“Joseph Kayes has not completed his contract at the Budapest club, so it is not possible to include him in another European club. LEN will have to be informed in writing.”
We’ll know more after the briefing session OSC will have.
