The second round in the Dutch Eredivisie did not yield any major surprises. There are four unbeaten teams in the men’s division. In the women’s division there are still three teams without loss of points.
Men
AZC won convincingly against UZSC. After two periods, last season’s cup winner was 5-1 behind. Although UZSC still fought back to 5-4, AZC was clearly the better team. In the last period, UZSC did not score anymore, while AZC went on to 13-5. Jacoppo Mandolini scored five times.
National champion GZC Donk had a hard time in Leiden against ZVL-1886. In the third period, GZC Donk turned the score into a small lead, but the home team did not give up yet. A penalty by Stan van den Heuvel finally brought the decision four minutes before the end: 9-10.
PSV played two matches. On Saturday, the team from Eindhoven won against SVH (14-19) and on Sunday it lost to BZC (8-13). BZC, coached by former international Jeroen Kuilman, played also on Saturday. Then ZV De Zaan was too strong: 13-15.
Just like last week, Het Ravijn won with big numbers, this time against de Ham (17-8). The team from Nijverdal is currently in the lead on goal difference. ZPC Amersfoort is the fourth team to be unbeaten. On Saturday, it was too strong for ZPB: 10-8.Â
Women
In the women’s league, many teams are not complete because the Dutch Juniors are currently preparing for the World Championships under 20. As a result, many selections were narrow or supplemented with players from lower teams. For example UZSC, Polar Bears and ZVL. The last two teams met each other. The national champion from Ede won: 9-12. Polar Bears got off to a great start and led 3-0 after three minutes. The teams then scored alternately with Fleurien Bosveld excelling. She scored nine times.
UZSC defeated GZC Donk with 10-12. The decision came in the last period. Saloua Maafi turned a 10-9 deficit into a 10-11 lead. A power play goal by Anne van Rossum then determined the final score.
ZV De Zaan won with the same numbers. The Ham was the victim. At the beginning of the third period, the victory seemed secured. Then the team from Zaandam led by 4-11. The home team started to catch up, but it came too late to avert the victory for the visitors.
Het Ravijn won convincingly against PSV: 4-14. It wasn’t until far into the second period that the home team scored for the first time.Â
