NC Vouliagmeni got one of the biggest transfers that could be seen in Greek water polo. Ashleigh Johnson, one of the best goalkeepers, comes from the USA to join the Greeks.
Alexia Kammenou, the team’s coach, says she fought a lot to get Ashleigh here. But in the end, she got a “yes”, and the world’s top-class goalkeeper will come to Greece and bring something new to the European playstyle.
In addition to being a great player, Ashleigh has been voted for the best player in many occasions. Additionally, she was the golden Olympic champion in Rio and the world champion in Kazan with the USA.
The club announced their formal comment:
“NC Vouliagmeni is pleased to announce the acquisition of American goalkeeper Ashleigh Johnson in our women’s team. The 24-year-old athlete is a renown gold medalist and world champion, along with her national team. We warmly welcome her and wish her success in her personal and club life with Vouliagmeni cap.”
