Before, during, and after the Olympic Games in Tokyo, there were many news and stories about Serbia’s seven players who decided to retire from the national team after the Olympic tournament.
Still, one of them changed his mind.
Branislav Mitrovic, one of the best goalkeepers of the Olympic tournament, who gave an outstanding contribution to winning the gold medal, will continue to play for Serbia.
Two days ago, he said that he was eager and ready to continue to play for the national team, but that everything depends on a head coach.
On Thursday, he talked to head coach Dejan Savic. Today, he disclosed the outcome of the talk.
“The Serbian team had a meeting yesterday. I talked to the coach and we agreed that I will not say goodbye. For now, that’s all I have said regarding my future in the national team, Branislav Mitrovic said for the Television Vojvodina today.
Mitrovic (36), who became a regular member of the Serbian national team in 2013, had a great tournament in Tokyo. Obviously, Mitrovic and Savic believe that the experienced goalkeeper can help the reigning Olympic champions.
Filip Filipovic, Andrija Prlainovic, Dusko Pijetlovic, Gojko Pijetlovic, Milan Aleksic and Stefan Mitrovic finished their careers in the national team after the Tokyo Olympics. They all started playing for Serbia earlier than Branislav Mitrovic.
