Brescia edged out Savona 12:11 in a very exciting game played in the 17th round of the Italian League. The match was open until the very end.
A week after claiming the Italian Cup, Pro Recco continued its winning streak in the national championship with an away victory over Telimar (13:8).
Ortigia demolished Salerno.

Brescia was aware that the match in Savona would be a challenging task, especially because the Italian champion arrived at the game with 12 players. Boris Vapenski and Stefano Luongo were absent due to injuries. However, the visitors started excellently and earned a 3:0 and 4:1 lead. Still, Savona equalized before the first break (4:4). At halftime, it stood 5:5.
Early in the third period, Brescia built a 2-goal advantage (7:5, 8:6). But, Savona’s Lorenzo Bruni scored three goals in 01:23 minutes and put the hosts ahead – 9:8. The sides were tied at 9:9 before the final period. Brescia led 10:9 and 11:10 in the opening minutes of the fourth period, but Savona equalized both times. The hosts had no response after Djordje Lazic converted a man-up in the 30th minute and Brescia earned a 12:11 victory.
Telimar didn’t take the lead in the match against Recco. Still, the game was an even contest until the middle of the second quarter. Pro Recco took a one-goal lead four times, but Telimar equalized on each occasion until 4:4. Midway through the second quarter, Recco netted three goals within 91 seconds (Ivovic, Di Fulvio, Cannella) and went to 7:4. That was a turning point. Telimar couldn’t come back. Occhione closed the first half for 5:7. However, the visitors scored the first two goals in the second half and increased the margin to four (9:5). After that, their win wasn’t in danger. Recco even had a six-goal lead (12:6)before Telimar narrowed the gap.
Ortigia left no chance to Salerno.
