An encounter between Ortigia and the reigning champion Brescia was the big match of the Italian League 11th round. But, the derby turned into a one-sided contest as Brescia demolished Ortigia – 14:5.
The only exciting game of the day was an encounter between Posillipo and Roma played in Naples. Posillipo recorded a 7:6 victory.
The matches Pro Recco-Salerno and Catania – Quinto have been postponed due to positive coronavirus cases at Salerno and Quinto.

Ortigia and Brescia entered the derby in Siracuse carefully and focused on defense. Ortigia had a first big chance to score. The hosts forced a penalty shot in the 4th minute. But, they failed to convert it to a goal and paid for that. Brescia netted three goals by the first break for a 3:0 lead. The visitors continued their series and went to 5:0 in the middle of the second period. Ortigia got on the scoreboard only in the 14th minute, but Brescia regained a 5-goal lead before the middle break, while it stretched the margin to six early in the third (7:1), and it was clear that Ortigia couldn’t come back. Niccolo Gitto was the best scorer with four goals. It should be noted that Canadian Nicolas Constantin Bicari debuted for Brescia in this match and scored one goal.
For the first time this season, Posillipo played in the famous “Felice Scandone” pool in Naples, which was closed for a while. The Naples-based side hosted and narrowly beat Roma. At halftime, Roma led 3:2. In the 18th minute, the visitors doubled the advantage (4:2). But, Posillipo scored two unanswered goals shortly after to equalize at 4:4. Each team scored a goal apiece in the last minute of the quarter, and Posillipo and Roma were tied at 5:5 before the final quarter. After just two minutes in the 4th period, Posillipo went to 7:5. Roma cut the deficit in the 30th minute, but it couldn’t equalize. Two Posillipo’s players made the scoresheet. Massimo Di Martire scored four, and Slovak Marek Tkac three goals.
Telimar, led by Andrija Basic (7 goals), cruised to a victory over Lazio. Savona and Trieste were too strong for their respective opponents Anzio and Milano.
