OSC and Szolnok secured their LEN Euro Cup final berths, while most of the other Hungarian clubs played the regular round of the domestic championship today.
The most important match of the day was a Budapest derby, an encounter between BVSC and Vasas. BVSC recorded a 13:10 victory. BVSC took over 4th place in the standings from Vasas.

On Wednesday, Vasas beat OSC Budapest and earned the valuable points in the battle for 4th place. But, Vasas’ water polo players couldn’t defeat another big Budapest-based rival, BVSC, which replaced them in fourth place in the standings.
BVSC stunned Vasas in the first quarter and a half. By the middle of the second period, BVSC earned a 4:0 lead. In the 12th minute, Vasas finally got on the scoreboard (1:4). Before the end of the first half, the visitors managed to reduce the gap (3:5). In the 19th minute, BVSC earned a 6:3 lead, but Vasas came close shortly after (4:6). BVSC responded with three goals in a row and went 9:4 up (26th minute). Vasas struck back in the same way – with three goals, and the distance between the sides was two goals once more (7:9) with 02:11 minutes left. However, BVSC didn’t let the visitors go further. Matyas Meszaros hit the back of the net in the 31st minute for the final score – 10:7.
Ferencvaros, playing without several key players, easily defeated Tatabanya.
Honved started slowly, but it recorded a fine 11:8 victory over Eger in Budapest. The visitors took an early 2:0 lead. But, Honved dictated the pace from the middle of the first period and had a 5:2 advantage before the second quarter. Honved was 11:5 up before the final eight minutes. Eger scored three unanswered goals in the fourth quarter, but it was too late for a comeback.
Three games were very exciting.
Szentes edged out Szeged in a low-scoring thriller (6:5). Only three goals were scored in the first half. Szentes had a 2:1 lead at halftime. But, Szeged dominated the third period and entered the final quarter with a 4:2 advantage. But, a new turn was yet to come. Szentes scored four unanswered goals in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter for 6:4. In the remaining time, Szeged halved the distance.
Miskolc hosted Kaposvar. The home team started very well and built a 4-goal advantage by the middle of the second quarter (7:3). However, Kaposvar was able to come back. The visitors produced a 6:1 rush and earned a 9:8 lead midway through the third quarter. The teams fought a hard battle in the following minutes. Miskolc collected all three points thanks to Barnabas Biros, who scored a winner – 13:12 in the last minute of the game.
There were 25 goals in an encounter between Debrecen and KSI, too. Early in the third period, KSI had a 5-goal lead (9:4 and 10:5), but the visitors ran out of gas for the second half. Debrecen recorded a narrow 13:12 victory and earned valuable points in their efforts to avoid relegation.
