Following a 7:16 loss to Ferencvaros last week, Szolnok suffered another humiliating defeat. In the derby of the 21st round of the Hungarian League, BVSC defeated Szolnok by six goals (11:5). This victory greatly improved BVSCβs chances of securing 4th place and qualifying for the semifinals of the playoffs.
The derby took place in Budapest. BVSC took a flying start. After a 4:1 first quarter, the hosts opened the 2nd period with a power-play goal to go to 5:1. Shortly after, BVSC increased the margin to five for the first time β 7:2. Szolnok narrowed the gap to four twice (4:8 and 5:9). Still, BVSC sealed the victory with two early goals in the fourth period, resulting in an 11:5 final score. There were no goals in the last six minutes. David Tartai and Akos Konarik were the top scorers. Each contributed three goals to BVSCβs win.
BVSC is still in 5th place, but the winner of the derby is just three points behind Szolnok, which dropped from 2nd to 4th place after two consecutive losses.
Ferencvaros recorded its 34th win this season, beating Honved 13:8. It was an even contest in the opening minutes.Late in the first quarter, Ferencvaros took full control of the game, scoring four consecutive goals between the 6th and 10th minutes to jump from 2:2 to 6:2. The European champions earned a seven-goal advantage in the third period (11:4 and 12:5), before slowing down their pace.Vendel Vigvari and Akos Nagy scored three goals for Ferencvaros. Honvedβs Kevi Bendeguz had the same output.
Lars ten Broek netted four goals to help OSC beat Szeged 11:6. OSC started the game slowly, allowing Szeged to take an early 3:1 lead. However, OSC then launched a 6:0 run, ending the first half with a comfortable 7:3 advantage.
OSC is now in 2nd place with three points more than Vasas. But, Vasas has played one match fewer. The game Kaposvar β Vasas has been postponed to April.
