European champion Ferencvaros didn’t have a successful rehearsal for the start in the Champions League.
OSC defeated Ferencvaros 16:12 in the derby of the 15th round of the Hungarian League. OSC stunned the hosts in the opening minutes, and Ferencvaros couldn’t find a way back after that.

Both coaches could count on their best players. Only OSC’s Kristztof Toth missed the match.
After just nine seconds of play, Ferencvaros earned a man-up, and Gergo Zalanki converted an extra man to a 1:0 lead. But, OSC answered with three goals. In the 5th minute, the hosts reduced the deficit (2:3). And then came the crucial period of the game. The visitors shut out Ferencvaros for almost eight minutes while they produced a 4:0 series and jumped to a huge 7:2 lead early in the second quarter. Denes Varga broke Ferencvaros’ silence in the 12th minute for 3:7. Jaksic added one goal shortly before the middle break for 4:7 and Ferencvaros’ hopes grew up. The reigning champion came very close in the 18th minute (Vigvari for 5:7). Ferenc Salamon ended OSC’s goalless phase that lasted 8:19 minutes, and the visitors built a new 3-goal lead (8:5). Ferencvaros was coming back from time to time in the action-packed third period. In the middle of this period, “Fradi” trailed 7:9. But, OSC, led by Balazs Harai, found its rhythm again and entered the last quarter with a five-goal advantage (13:8).
OSC knocked down Ferencvaros in the opening minutes of the final quarter, with two goals for a big 15:8 lead. It was clear that the hosts will leave the pool empty-handed.
This was Ferencvaros’ second consecutive loss, after a narrow defeat to Ferencvaros (14:15) two weeks ago. On Tuesday, Ferencvaros starts its campaign in the Champions League.
