Though Barceloneta gained an early 3-goal lead in the derby in Dubrovnik, the Spaniards return home empty-handed.

The first quarter belonged to Barceloneta (4:2). The visitors opened the 2nd period with a nice action goal from Granados for a 5:2 advantage. But, Jug started climbing back quickly after that. The hosts reduced the deficit twice during the second quarter (4:5, 5:6). But, Barceloneta earned a new 3-goal lead early in the third quarter (8:5).

Then Jug produced a great come back. The hosts scored six goals in a row and turned a 3-goal deficit into a 3-goal lead (11:8) 90 seconds from the end of the third period. But, Barceloneta didn’t give up. By the end of the quarter, the Spaniards scored two extra player goals and Jug had a minimal advantage (11:10) before the final eight minutes.

Shortly after the last break, Jug jumped to a 13:10 lead. Barceloneta converted a man-up for 11:13. In the middle of the quarter, Luka Loncar gave Jug a 14:11 lead. After this goal, Barceloneta goalkeeper Daniel Lopey was excluded with substitution because of a protest (he signalized that Loncar was inside 2 meters).

Everything was decided two and a half minutes before the last buzzer, when Paulo Obradovic, the man of the match, netted his 6th goal. He sent the ball home from the distance for a 15:11 lead and Barceloneta couldn’t come back anymore, despite the Spaniards scored two goals until the end. Jug celebrated a 15:13 win.

There were a lot of goals, but a lot of exclusions in the derby too. The hosts were excluded 18 times, while the visitors had 16 exclusions.

Szolnok led for most of the time of the match against Jadran played in Herceg Novi, while the Montenegrins were coming back from time to time. At halftime, the visitors had a slim 8:7 advantage, but they dominated the third period and entered the last quarter with a nice 4-goal lead (12:8). Jadran converted two extra-man attacks in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter (10:12), but the Hungarians didn’t let the home team go further. Szolnok maintained a 2-goal distance in the remaining time (14:12). Szolnok’s Serb Gavril Subotic, who was born and learnt to swim in Herceg Novi, where he also started to play water polo, was the best scorer of the match, with 4 goals.

Olympiacos recorded its second win in the season by defeating Sintez Kazan. Midway through the 2nd quarter, the Greeks earned a crucial 3-goal lead (8:5). The Russians fought hard until the end, but they couldn’t equalise and Olympiacos took all three points (10:8).

An encounter between Jadran Split and Spandau ended in a draw. The Berliners, the visiting side in this match, rushed to an early 4:1 lead, but Jadran came close to the Germans before the first break (4:5). Spandau controlled the play for most of the time, it had a 3-goal advantage in the 2nd period (8:5) and in the third quarter (9:6), while Jadran finally equalised in the middle of the fourth (11:11), when Rino Buric converted a man-up. Stefan Pjesivac replied immediately with an action goal for Spandau’s new lead (12:11). Buric netted another man-up goal 03:12 before the end to level the score once more (12:12). Both teams had nice chances in the last three minutes, but there were no goals.
