Pro Recco has continued confirming the additions for the new season.
Today, the Italian champion welcomed Francesco Cassia, 23, who grew up as a player in Ortigia. He made his debut in Serie A1 Â with Ortigia in 2017. This summer, he left the Syracuse-based team to join Pro Recco.
Last season, he scored 72 goals for Ortigia in the Italian League.
Cassia's development in the last few seasons has been spotted by many. Italy head coach Alessandro Campagna selected him to the 15-player roster at the World Championships. The tournament in Singapore will be his first major senior competition with the national team.
According to the original plans, Cassia was ready to join Pro Recco in 2024, but due to turbulent events at the club last summer, his arrival was delayed.
Cassia signed a 3-year contract.
Pro Recco has confirmed several new signings: Granados, Irving, Nicosia, Buric, Pavillard, and Cassia, but the list of reinforcements hasn't been finalized yet.
