Guus van IJperen is returning to play in Spain, and has joined upcoming Champions League side Sabadell.
With the opportunity now to play in the Champions League group stage, the 28-year-old versatile player is eager to temporarily set aside his studies for this exciting opportunity.
With a previous stint in Barcelona from 2016 to 2019 under CN Barcelona, van IJperen is no stranger to the region. Having secured a national championship with GZC Donk, he now returns to the Mediterranean to contribute to Astralpool Sabadell.
Renowned for its remarkable achievements in the women's division, where fellow Dutch star Sabrina van der Sloot earned numerous top honours last season, CN Sabadell is also a contender in the men's category. Despite clinching the top spot in the regular season, they narrowly missed the title to CN Atletic Barceloneta. Nonetheless, their strong finish secured them a coveted spot in the Champions League group stage.
As we already reported, Sabadell signed Mallarach, Alberto Barroso (Salerno), Montenegrin Stefan Vidovic (Ortigia), American Jake Ehrhardt (University of Southern California), German Fynn Schutze (Waspo Hannover) and Oscar Asensio (Barcelona).
Several players left the club: Sergi Cabanas (Jug Dubrovnik), Bernat Sanahuja (Barceloneta), Lluc Bertran (Barcelona), Ramiro Veich (Barcelona), Dusan Banicevic (Spandau), Gerard Gil and Oscar Blasco
