One of the best young center-forwards of today, Konstantinos Kakaris, moved from Croatia to Italy.
Today, Pro Recco announced it had signed a contract with the Greek water polo player who played for Jug Dubrovnik in the past two seasons. The transfer was agreed upon a long time ago. Just an official confirmation was missing until today.
Kakaris (23) is the first-ever Greek athlete that will play for Pro Recco. He will share his position with Ben Hallock and Mateo Aicardi.
He arrived at Jug two years ago from Olympiacos. In 2022, he became a regular member of the Greek national team after Konstantinos Morukis and Christodoulos Kolomvos retired.
Kakaris was one of Greece’s key players last summer. He was the best scorer in the 3rd-place match at the World Championships, where Greece beat Croatia 9:7 to win bronze. He won gold at the World U20 Championships in 2019.
Playing for Jug, Kakaris won the title in the 2023 Regional League, one trophy in Croatian Championship, Croatian League and Croatian Super Cup apiece . He won a lot of domestic trophies with Olympiacos
Kakaris is Recco’s second confirmed reinforcement this summer, after Francesco Condemi., who arrived from Ortigia. Nikola Jaksic is targeted by the European champion.
Pro Recco said goodbye to two players. Kakaris will replace Croatian center-forward Luka Loncar, who will continue his career at Olympiacos. Besides Loncar, Alessandro Vellotto left the club ( he will go to Marseille).
