Luka Loncar, a double Olympic silver medalist, is likely to return to the Croatian clubs' water polo.
There is a strong possibility that Loncar, 38, will rejoin Mladost, the club he left a decade ago.
Loncar achieved big successes while playing for Mladost's archrival, Jug Dubrovnik, from 2015 to 2021, during which he won the Champions League, the LEN Super Cup, three Regional Leagues, and nine domestic trophies, including five Croatian League titles and four Cup victories.
He also had experience of playing in the Italian League, as a member of Brescia and Pro Recco. After winning two Champions Leagues with Pro Recco (2022 and 2023), the experienced center-forward transferred to Olympiacos, the club he has played for since 2023.
Representing Croatia, Loncar has won 13 medals in international competitions, including two Olympic silver medals. His first silver at the Games was earned in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. He retired from the national team after the Tokyo Olympics. Still, later he accepted an offer from Croatia's head coach, Ivica Tucak, and decided to resume playing for Croatia after a two-year break. Last season, Loncar was part of the Croatian team that reached the finals of all three major competitions, securing one gold medal at the World Championships and two silver medals at the Olympic Games and the European Championships.
Two hot prospects from Primorje, goalkeeper Mauro Cubranic and center forward Viktor Toncinic, will alos join legendary club from Zagreb.
