Many believed that Jadran Split had completed its activities in this summer’s transfer market by signing Loren Fatovic, Djuro Radovic, and Josip Vrlic.
However, the Croatian champion didn’t stop there. Fatovic isn’t the only player who left Jug to join Jadran Split.
Defender Matias Biljaka (24) moved to Jadran after one season at Jug.
Before arriving at Jug last summer, Biljaka played for Mladost Zagreb. He won several trophies in domestic competitions and the Regional League with the two most successful clubs in the history of Croatian water polo.
Biljaka was a member of the Croatian national team that became the Europen champion in Split last year and won medals with the junior and youth national teams. He was on the list of candidates for the team for the World Championships, but he won’t play in Fukuoka.
He is Jadran’s fifth addition this summer after Fatovic, Radovic, and Vrlic and returnee Konstantin Kharkov.
Only three players left the club: Rino Buric (Jug), Andjelo Setka (retired) and Niksa Dobud.
Head coach Jure Marelja will have a team that can go far in all competitions.
