One of Greece's most exciting talents, Nikolaos Papanikolaou, has returned from the United States to join the Greek side Panathinaikos.
The 23-year-old center-forward spent the last four years with the California Bears in Berkeley, playing a pivotal role in their domination and contributing to winning the last three NCAA titles. During his time in America, he received the prestigious Cutino Award twice, which is the highest individual honor a player can achieve in the United States.
Papanikolaou's impact has been so profound that he recently earned a call-up to Theo Vlachos' 23-man training squad for the European Championships. Although he narrowly missed the final cut, there is no doubt that he will be a key part of Vlachos' future plans for the Greece national team.
Prior to his return to Greece, Papanikolaou played for Glyfada. He has now signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Panathinaikos.
