CE Mediterrani has made significant moves in the transfer market, announcing five summer signings on the same day to bolster their roster.
Among the additions are three foreign players, adding valuable international experience to the team. Marit Van der Weijden, the Dutch international and world champion, returns to the club after a year away. Hungarian player Anna Mandula, formerly of UVSE and Dunaujvaros, will also join the team. Additionally, Cecilia Leonard, an American-born Argentine, will be making her way from Catalunya to strengthen the squad.
In addition to the foreign talent, CE Mediterrani has also focused on recruiting promising young Spanish players. Goalkeeper Elia Jimenez from Rubi, who has trained with the senior national team as the third-choice goalkeeper, is among the new signings. Nerea Martin, whose name might sound familiar as the daughter of Chus Martin, the former coach of Barceloneta's men's team, completes the list of arrivals.
As the team prepares for the upcoming season, they will have to adjust to the departure of several key players from their roster last year. Captain Sarah Lizotte, first-choice goalkeeper Gabi Palm, Canadian duo Verica Bakoc and Axelle Crevier, as well as Spanish national team member Paula Crespi, have all moved on, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the team's future success.
