Olympiacos officially announced that it had appointed a new head coach of the male team.
It’s Croatian coach Hrvoje Koljanin (41), who has already worked at Olympiacos. He was Theodoros Vlachos’ assistant in 2018 when the „Red Whites“ won the Champions League. Since the end of the Final Eight in Belgrade, there have been rumors that Koljanin was the first candidate to succeed Igor Milanovic.
Koljanin was also a player of Olympiacos and has spent most of his coaching career so far at Vouliagmeni. He coached the second-best Greekclub from 2018 to 2022 and was an assistant in Jug under Vjekoslav Kobescak last season. In addition, he was the head coach of the Croatian U18 national team last year.
"I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead Olympiakos and I am grateful to the management and the president for their trust in me. I am familiar with how Olympiacos works and their yearly goals, which align with mine. The team has a full roster, and I have already worked with some of the players in the past. I am also eager to work with the new young players who will join us, and I cannot wait to begin training for the upcoming season.", Koljanin said after the appoitment.
