One of the decade's most outstanding female water polo players is making a triumphant return to her home club in the Netherlands.
Sabrina van der Sloot, a legendary figure in European water polo, is leaving her current club CN Sabadell in Spain to rejoin her first club, GZC Donk.
The 33-year-old Dutch international is returning to GZC Donk, where her journey began in 2005. Van der Sloot's first major move was to Hungary, where she spent four years with Szentes and UVSE, two of the rising forces in women's water polo at the time. During her tenure there, she won three Hungarian Championships, showcasing her early promise and talent.
On the international stage, Van der Sloot has been a crucial player for the Dutch national team, a captain since the Tokyo Olympics. She has twice been crowned European Champion (2018 and 2024) and won gold at the 2023 World Championships, further cementing her status as one of the sport's greats.
