De Akker Bologna has completed its activities in the 2023 transfer market by signing Steven Camilleri.
The experienced 36-year-old Maltese joined De Akker, the club announced today. Camilleri began his career in Neptunes in Malta. In 2008 he went on a six-month loan at Partizan Belgrade, where he won the Serbian League and Cup. He moved from Serbia to Italy, where he wore the caps of Bogliasco, 7Scogli, Ortigia, Roma Nuoto, Muri Antichi, and concluded the just season ended with Nuoto Catania. He played about 600 matches in Serie A1.
Camilleri represented Malta at the European Championships three times (2016, 2018, 2020) and was the best scorer of the 2016 Europeans in Belgrade.
De Akker opened the transfer window with a “bomb” – Stefano Luongo arrived at the club from Brescia. Between Luongo and Camilleri, several players joined De Akker - Riccardo De Simon (President Bologna), Dullio Puccio (Bogliasco), Nicola Mengoli (President), Giacomo Marchetti (Como), Brazilian Roberto De Freitas (Ethnikos, Greece)
