Terrassa, the runner-up in the first-ever LEN Challenger Cup, has to renovate its team during this summer’s transfer market.
Terrassa finished the season with a home loss to Sabadell in the second match of the semifinals of the Spanish League. After that game, even four experienced players said goodbye to professional water polo.
Francesc Sanchez (36), Víctor Flores (29), Ruben de Lera (31) and Adria Delgado (33) retired.
Sanchez retired after nine seasons at Terrassa. He played with Terrassa in the Champions League, LEN Euro Cup, and LEN Challenger Cup.
The other three players are leaving elite water polo due to their work commitments.
Adria Delgado arrived at Terrassa last year and signed a two-year contract, but he retired before the expiration. He played for two national teams. Representing Brazil, Delgado competed at the 2016 Olympic Games. Four years after, he won silver with Spain at the European Championships in Budapest. Delgado started his career at Barceloneta. Ten years ago, he went to Brazil where he played for Botafogo, Fluminense and Pinheiros. He returned to Europe in 2015 and played for Vasas Budapest, Steaua Bucharest and Barcelona before coming to Terrassa. This season, he was one of the key players of Terrassa and the best scorer of the regular season in the Spanish League with 69 goals.
Victor Flores moved to Terrassa in 2021 (from Barcelona) and was one of the team's leaders.
Ruben De Lera played for Terrassa on two occasions (a total of four seasons). He re-joined the club in 2020 after two years spent in French Pays d'Aix.
