Honved, the 3rd-placed team in the Hungarian Championships, has started the preparations for a new season in which it will play in the Champions League qualifications. Some of the players are absent because they are with the Hungarian team that will play at the Universiade.
The club announced that three new players had arrived.
They will replace Norbert Hosnyanszky, goalkeeper Attila Decker and Adam Manherz, who left the club (the first two retired).
Left-handed Viktor Vadovics (25) arrives from the reigning Hungarian champion Ferencvaros, where he played the last season. Before that, he was a member of UVSE, Miskolc and Vasas. Last year, he played for Hungary at the 2022 European Championships and won silver.
The new goalkeeper is Gergely Kardos (28), who played for the national team at several major competitions and won gold in the 2018 World Cup and silver in the World League in the same year. This year, he represented Hungary at the qualification tournament for the beach water polo tournament at the World Beach Games. Hungary won bronze and qualified for the Games, which were canceled last week.
Kardos had already played for Honved (season 2015/16), before he joined Szolnok. After leaving Szolnok, he was in front of the goals of Eger, BVSC, French Douai and Szentes in the last season.
Gergely Szepfavi (19) joined Honved after leaving KSI.
