Hungaryβs head coach Zsolt Varga announced a 15-player list for the upcoming World Cup Final, which will take place in Los Angeles this weekend.
After missing the 2022 European Championships and Division 1 of the World Cup in Zagreb in March, Denes Varga will play for Hungary in this tournament for the first time since the 2022 World Championships. He agreed with Zsolt Varga to skip the previous two competitions but participated in the preparations for Division 1. It was planned that he would play for the national team this summer.
The squad is similar to the one that won silver at the European Championships in Split last year. Three names are new compared to Split. Besides Denes Varga, Marton Vamos, who missed the Europeans due to injury, is back on the roster (but he played in Division 1).
OSCβs Vince Vigvari, who recently won gold at the World U20 Championships, is for the first time on the senior national team roster.
After announcing the roster for the World Cup, Zsolt Varga underlined that the team could be changed for the World Championships in Fukuoka.
Twenty-players participated in the preparations. Zsolt Varga shortened the list of the candidates for the World Cup and the World Championships to 17 names. Among the candidates for the World Championships are Gergely Burian and Zoltan Pohl, who will stay in Budapest and train.
Hungary will play against Greece in the quarterfinals of the World Cup on Friday.
