In the next few days, the curtain on the first part of the first edition of the Premier League will fall, with the seventh round, and a two-month break will follow.
The match between Primorac and Novi Beograd, scheduled for Sunday, will attract the most attention in the seventh round. The clash between Crvena zvezda and Jadran, which will be played the day before, could also be interesting.
The seventh round begins on Friday. Less than 48 hours after the Champions League victory over Vasas in Budapest, Radnicki will face Partizan at the Banjica pool in Belgrade. The upcoming match against the Kragujevac-based team is a big challenge for the young home team, which is unlikely to secure its first points in this game. For many players on the Radnicki, the match against Partizan holds special significance, as it takes place in the pool where they began their careers or developed into elite athletes. Many of them haven’t played at Banjica for long. Radnicki’s captain, Andrija Prlainovic, has not faced Partizan—the club where he won his first of five European championship titles—for nine years.
Just two rounds ago, Jadran was at the top of the table, while Crvena Zvezda was in sixth place. On the eve of the first match of the season between the Montenegrin champion and the Red and Whites, the two teams are next to each other in the standings. Crvena Zvezda did not move from sixth place, but Jadran fell to fifth place. Jadran is the favorite. However, the latest results and games of the Belgrade-based team, especially the strong resistance to Radničkic in Kragujevac, indicate that Crvena Zvezda is overcoming the crisis and entering good form, with all the problems that come with it. If the Red and Whites do their best, it is not impossible that they can reduce the gap in the table behind Jadran.
The last two Premier League matches in 2025 start on Sunday at 8 pm.
The teams that suffered more or less expected defeats on away trips to Italy in the Champions League this week will meet at the Kotor swimming pool. Primorac returned empty-handed from Brescia and lost even the slightest chance of advancing to the quarter-finals. Novi Beograd was defeated by Pro Recco, but is still in the competition for a place among the top eight in the elite competition. Primorac has played five games over the last four weeks and has won only one. Behind Novi Beograd is a series of three defeats in eight days.Just like in the clash between Crvena Zvezda and Jadran, the visiting team has the advantage in quality for this game as well. However, no one can count on easy points against Primorac in Kotor. With the triumph over Jadran in Herceg Novi, Primorac, which has so far won only one point fewer than Novi Beograd, proved it is a candidate for a place in the Final Four.
The league leader, Sabac, will welcome Buducnost. The team from Podgorica arrives in the city on the bank of the Sava River, encouraged by their first victory in the Premier League. With the triumph over Partizan, it moved from last place, but Sabac is on a roll, and it isn’t realistic to expect them to miss the chance to consolidate their position at the top of the table with new points.
