Dr. Djuro Maric has been elected the president of the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro (VPSCG). The session of the Assembly was held in Podgorica today.
All delegates that attended the Assembly supported Maric’s candidacy unanimously.
Maric will replace Dejan Bajic, who was the president in the previous four-year term.
Djuro Maric was the president of the Assembly of the VPSCG until today. He has worked at Jadran Herceg Novi for years. Currently, he is the president of Jadran.
Celebrated Montenegrin water polo player Antonio Petrović was elected vice president of the Federation. Mirza Krcic, a representative of VPK Primorac, was elected President of the Assembly of VPSCG.
Besides the president and the vice-president, other members of the VPSCG Board were elected: Aleksandar Bojanic, Milos Mracevic, Dejan Bajic, and captain of the national water polo team Drasko Brguljan.
“The elected president, vice-presidents, and Board members agree that they will work to give water polo in Montenegro more and special attention from the state and work on creating better conditions in terms of support swimming and water polo clubs”, the Montenegrin Federation announced.
“President Marić expressed exceptional satisfaction that he received the support of VPK Primorac Kotor. That fact showed that the two oldest and most trophy water polo and swimming clubs (Jadran and Primorac – Ed.) keep their rivalry in the pool and put the interest of water polo and swimming above club interests. This indeed obliges the same attitude of the Jadran towards Primorac in the future during some new elections.
In the end, the newly appointed bodies of the Federation give full support to the head coach of the water polo national team of Montenegro, Vladimir Gojković, with the desire to the national team achieve the best possible result in the World League, and at the Olympic Games”, the Federation announced.
