ZV De Zaan won the “double crown” last weekend. After the female team of the Zaandam won the Dutch Cup, the ZV De Zaan’s men did the same.
A few hours after the women’s final, the match for the trophy in the men’s competition was played in the Hofbad pool in the Hague. The rivals were the same – De Zaan and Polar Bears. But this match was more exciting than the female’s final. De Zaan celebrated the win only after a penalty shootout – 13:10 and retained the trophy won last year.

The fourth period produced seven goals. Polar Bears leveled at 6:6 and 7:7, but Meijn and Mandolini gave De Zaan a 9:7 lead. However, the battle wasn’t over yet. Polar Bears closed the fourth quarter with two goals from Ten Broek and Snel. The teams were tied at 9:9 after 32 minutes and the match entered a penalty shootout.
De Zaan made no mistake in the first four rounds of shots. Polar Bears hit the back of the net just once, and everything was over.
