The Team USA roster for the upcoming World Championships in Doha is almost identical to the squad that competed in Fukuoka last year.
Head coach Dejan Udovicic has revealed the 15 players who will represent the country in Doha, with 14 of them having participated in the 2023 World Championships, where the USA secured a 7th-place finish.
The 15th player is Alex Obert, a two-time Olympian, and a regular national team member for several years, concluding with the Tokyo Olympic Games. After a two-year absence, the 32-year-old player, who has previously played for European clubs Ydraikos and Jug, made a comeback to the national team last autumn. Obert clinched a gold medal at the Pan American Games less than three months ago.
Thomas Gruwell is the only player from the Fukuoka roster who is now missing. Gruwell, who is ten years younger than Obert, currently plays for Jadran Split.
Of the 15 selected players, eleven are members of the European clubs.
