A day before the end of the Euro League Preliminary Round, only one team has secured its spot in the next round (the quarterfinals).
Dinamo Uralochka surprised LEN Super Cup winner Orizzonte 16:14 today and cemented the first place in the group in Catania.
Olympiacos (Greece) and Kinef (Russia) also have collected two wins each, but they still haven’t booked their tickets for the next round.
The top two teams from each group will go to the quarterfinals.

Olympiacos defeated Dunaujvaros and make a huge step towards the quarterfinals. Olympiacos was leading for most of the time, but the hosts’ advantage was never larger than two goals. Two minutes from the end, the home team had a one-goal lead (9:8). Then Avramidiou found the net to secure the win – 10:8.
Mataro defeated Mediterrani in the Spanish derby – 12:8. On Day 3, Mataro will try to surprise Olympiacos and to qualify for the quarterfinals. Dunajvaros will play against last-placed Mediterrani.

After yesterday’s surprising win over European champion Sabadell, UZSC had a nice chance to secure the 1st place today. The Dutch needed a victory in the match against UVSE. But, the game ended in a draw.
UZSC controlled the match from the beginning. The Dutch even had a four-goal lead in the 20th minute (8:4). However, the Hungarians were able to come back. Deep into the third quarter, UVSE was three goals behind the Dutch (7:10). Then the Hungarians scored four straight goals for their first lead in the match -11:10 (27th minute). After that UZSC went ahead again (12:11 and 13:12). UVSE’s Kamilla Farago converted a man-up in the last minute of the game for the final score – 13:13.
As expected, Sabadell beat SIS Roma (13:9).
Before tomorrow’s last round, only SIS Roma has no chance to reach the next round. On Day 3, Sabadell will face UVSE, while UZSC will play against SIS Roma.

The clash of two former European champions Vouliagmeni (winner in 2009 and 2010) and Kinef Kirishi (2017 and 2018) was a close battle until the end. Vouliagmeni was leading 5:2 after the first quarter, but the second period belonged to the Russians. Kinef went ahead by the middle break (7:6). The hosts entered the last quarter with a solid 10:7 advantage. Still, the drama wasn’t over yet, as Vouliagmeni cut the deficit to 1 in the middle of the last quarter (9:10). Anastasia Simanovich hit the back of the net for 11:9 two minutes from the end. Vouliagmeni’s Eirini Ninou scored for 10:11 with 48 seconds to go. Kinef managed to keep a slim advantage until the end.
Plebiscito Padova defeated ZVL Tetteroo 8:5. After the third period, the result was 5:5. Plebiscito kept the Dutch goalless in the last eight minutes, while they netted 3 goals for an 8:5 victory.
Everything is still open. Kinef keeps the 1st place, but it hasn’t secured the next round. The Russians will play against Plebiscito tomorrow. Vouliagmeni will meet Tetteroo.

Dinamo Uralochka secured the 1st place in the group by beating Super Cup winner Orizzonte (yesterday, the Russians were better than BVSC). The match offered a lot of thrills and 30 goals. After a lot of twists and turns in the first three periods, Dinamo entered the last quarter with an 11:10 lead. Orizzonte, the home team, equalized in the 2nd minute of the last quarter (11:11). Dinamo, led by its captain Elena Karimova, who scored 8 goals, built a 15:12 advantage two minutes before the final buzzer and secured three points.
In the second match of the day, Hungarian BVSC defeated Sant Andreu 11:9. BVSC and Orizzonte will face off in the battle for the 2nd place tomorrow.
